Wins & Weaknesses Wednesday: Celebrate Yourself

Mary Morrissey says: “We can never out-perform our self-esteem; but the good news is, we CAN change it.”

I went to a Reiki share today, and one of the participants randomly decided to draw cards between healing sessions.   The card for me was “Celebrate Yourself.”  And he told me to make sure I celebrate everything, even the small things.  It was a great reminder.

I received a wonderful outpouring of support for my first Toastmasters speech.  Part of me thought everyone was being overly generous in their comments, but another part said: “Yes!  I really did do a good job!”  All that really matters is what we think, right?  It’s amazing what a difference perspective can make.

I think about that a lot when I think of abundance and my current life situation.  It would be very easy to look at my life either way, as lacking abundance or as very abundant.  And really both can seem true.  It depends on which reality I choose.  I can look at my life as unstable and insecure or as free and bursting with opportunity.  I’ll choose the 2nd, thank you!

Everything seems to come down to having faith, being willing to take risks, and believing in oneself.  With the steps I’m taking, I’m beginning to see some results.  Since completing my first Toastmasters speech, I now really believe I’m a speaker.  Since taking the new improv class, I really believe that I’m a comedian.  Since the event Saturday, I really believe that I can share about my business and that it’s appealing to strangers. I’m also still eating fairly healthy foods, getting in some exercise each week, and blogging on schedule!

I also realized that I’m actually doing quite a lot of traveling — a very consistent dream of mine!  I traveled to Los Angeles for DreamBuilder Live in January, to the College of Metaphysics for Dream Awareness Weekend in February, to Los Angeles for Life Mastery Consultant training in March, to the College of Metaphysics for National Teacher’s Training in April, to DreamBuilder Live in Baltimore in June, and I’ll be traveling to Florida for the Shaklee conference in August, Los Angeles for followup training in September, South Carolina for a wedding in Fall, and Dallas for DreamBuilder Live in Fall, and Vegas in February with family friends.

Yippee! Celebrate!  Let’s lift ourselves up!  Remember how it goes: when we shine, we allow others to do the same!

Much love, many blessings. ❤

Fun with Tutoring and Writing

I started a new activity with one of my tutoring students.  I bought a few notebooks for him to choose from and kept one for myself, and we now spend the first 10 minutes of our session writing.  Last week he chose to have me give him a writing prompt.  Today he decided that he wanted us to give each other writing prompts.  They were both great!

Here was mine, tying in a little of my current life lessons into my fantasy story:

You got a letter from Hogwarts!

I didn’t know what to do!  I was so excited that I started jumping up and down .  Then I started crying and hugging my mom and dad.  Then, I started freaking out.  “I don’t know anything about magic!”  I said.  “Everyone will laugh at me!  I will fail all of my subjects!  I didn’t even know Hogwarts was REAL!”

Then, my friends Brian and Jorge came over and comforted me.  They said, “Teri, you’re being negative again. You need to think positively.  Wonderful things can happen, if you only believe.”  I relaxed and sighed a contented sigh because I knew that was true.  I hugged them both and ran up the stairs to begin packing my bags.

It’s a Grand, Connected World

I love connecting with people in other parts of the world:  Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, India, New Zealand, Germany, Indonesia, Mexico, Malaysia, the Netherlands, the Philippines, Singapore, Armenia, South Africa, Ireland, the Republic of Korea, Switzerland, Brazil, Thailand, Hong Kong, Israel, Italy, the Bahamas, France, Moldova, Belgium, Sweden, Denmark, Austria, Taiwan, Zimbabwe, Croatia, Russia, Puerto Rico, Spain, Japan, Portugal, Venezuela, the United Arab Emirates, and other parts of the United States (according to my site stats).  And that’s not including people that I’ve visited!

On-line dating introduced me to a special guy I might never have met, and blogging has introduced me to friends and sympathizers who I never knew existed.  There are people struggling with what I’ve struggled with.  There are people who are at that point that I hope to reach.  And we’re all walking together along our journeys.  Not only do these people share in my journey; they’ve let me see a piece of their world.  This restless girl has found her means to travel the world in her own way.  The world is huge, but now it seems connected.

I know technology is pushing us farther apart from each other.  It’s allowing people like me who are shy and introverted to hide behind our computers probably more than we should.  But it’s also connecting us with people who are like us.  Who understand, who believe the same things.  Who laugh at the same things and break their hearts over the same things.   These are people who seek what we seek, who have similar goals, similar dreams.  I know I am unique, but now I feel a little less like an oddball.

This is the way.  Now that I’ve gotten a taste of it, I can’t imagine going back.
